What happens when you remove a STAR from its environment? Especially a keystone predator in just an ecological instant? From 2014-2018, ninety-five percent of sunflower sea stars melted away in a wasting event. This pandemic blindsided everyone up and down the Pacific coastline, and it has big consequences for kelp forests and the California ecology at large.
